The Bible is the only credible standard that has stood the test of logic and reason, pointing us to who we are and what we are doing here on this planet called Earth. The Bible explains to us that God, the Creator of all things, gave each of us a conscience, producing the ability to know right from wrong. However, the first man and woman messed everything up by rebelling against God and brought upon all mankind a corrupted nature, which includes the conscience. God has told us that because we violated His commandments “we are the children of wrath” and “of our father the devil.” God goes on to warn us that “It is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment.”
It gets worse.
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness…” (Romans 1:18)
You may say, “But I’m a pretty good person.” But I must ask, “By whose standard?” It’s God’s creation and Heaven…so shouldn’t you ask “what is His standard?”
Have you ever lied? Have you ever used God’s name as a curse word? Have you ever lusted after someone? Have you ever stolen anything?
How did you do on just four of God’s commandments? God says if we “violate just one of His commandments, we have violated them all,” and are condemned and separated from God.
It’s again found in God’s Book. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” That’s right! God the Son, Jesus Christ, left Heaven to pay the penalty for my sins and your sins so we would not have to face eternity under God’s wrath.
Jesus died on the Cross and came out of the grave three days later to prove He is God and could offer each of us eternal life after we die. But God makes it clear that there is no forgiveness for our sins unless each of us repents…"godly sorrow produces repentance...repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”
God says we must have a changing of our minds (repentance), and place our trust (faith) in the “Great News” (the Gospel) to be forgiven, cleansed, and brought into the family of God.
All of this changing of your life and soul comes from your being drawn to God through His Word, the Bible, by His Spirit. I hope as you are reading this “Great News” you will have already placed your trust in Jesus Christ.
But if not, now should be the moment you believe God’s Word, call out to Him to forgive you of your sins and receive the gift of God.
So call out to God with a heart of repentance and faith (trust), to be welcomed into the family of God.
